Toby Gale
Toby Gale is a two time UK MVA nominated artist and composer, whose work explores the relationship between curated musical synthesis and data driven music composition from the natural world.
Toby is currently working on Sun Songs, a body of work that explores and records the lumen levels of the sun and converts them to midi. Contributing strings by Robert Ames of London Contemporary Orchestra.
As a drummer, his compositions draw inspiration from afro-jazz rudiments and polyrhythmic percussion, which is interlaced with a cosmic array of synthesisers, alongside both sampled and real orchestral summonings. Previous collaborations include artists such as Photay, Iglooghost as well as producing remixes for artists such as Rina Sawayama and Flamingods, along with a breadth of DJ performances including Boiler Room, Great Escape Festival and NTS Radio.
He has released EPs on Tape Club Records and Apothecary Compositions, and with recent support from Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide FM and BBC 6 Music, his debut LP Syzygy lands on the whimsical and ever-experimental Activia Benz.
Toby is the Events & Brand Partnerships Manager at Spitfire Audio.
